Kazán, Nizhni Nóvgorod

For many people names of Russian cities such as Kazan or Nizhny Novgorod, became much more known after being named venues of several of the 64 games played in the World Cup. And the history and development of ozone therapy is very linked to these two cities.

In Kazan, one of the venues of the World Cup, for the first time in Russia in 1876 scientific research was conducted on the influence of ozone on animal tissues. “Through the passage of ozone through subcutaneous cellular tissue channels, a vasoconstriction effect was first noticed followed by a vasodilatory effect, dehydration and inhibition of the peripheral nerves.”

In another Russian city of the World Cup venue, Nizhny Novgorod, was performed at the Academy of State Medicine in 1977, the first experiment, in a dog, of the intravenous administration of ozonated saline solution. Two years later, for the first time in the world, “an ozonized cardioplegic solution in the coronary system of a patient during the operation of a congenital heart lesion was administered.” Also in Nizhny Novgorod for the first time was performed “ozonization by artificial circulation of blood during the placement of a mitral valve prosthesis “in 1986.

Throughout these same years the ozonized saline solution was investigated and “methodological approaches for the parenteral application of ozonated solutions during the execution of transfusion therapies, the processing of conserved and proper blood of patients in the post-operative stage were developed, and after resuscitation. ”
